Reports have it that the assailants shots indiscriminately into the air to scare off residents and anyone that stood in their way was violently attacked.

Some social media reports also have it that the lingering violence may not be unrelated to the recent death of the Olumegbon of Ajah.

Some concrned Nigerians upon hearing the news decry the rate of insecurity in the state, especially in the Ilaja area of Lagos.

In his reaction, one Mr Owo said the security agencies in the area are known to be slow in the discharge of their duty:

That Ajah area is fast becoming notorious, too many fighting of recent. There is a police station in Ajah not far from Ilaje, but all they do is come to Addo road in the night to extort money from Keke Napep, bike men and innocent car owners.

One time, the agberos were fighting with keke drivers under the Ajah bridge (Jubilee Bridge), and the policemen were busy harassing keke drivers just about a minute walk away.

There is no security in Nigeria. If you check the areas known to be secure, it is the citizens that are providing the security for themselves” he said
