A group, under the aegis of the Coalition of Ethnic Nationalities Youth Leaders of Southern Nigeria, has vowed to defend the South.
The group comprising Igbo, Yoruba, Ibibio, Aro, Ijaw, Urhobo, Esan, Isoko, Ogoni, Etche and Igala ethnic nationalities decried the security situation in the country.
Rising from a meeting in Awka, Anambra State on Saturday, they called on the Federal Government to convoke a national security summit to address the issues threatening the country’s unity and existence.
The youth said they would be left with no option but to protect and defend their people and territory if the security challenges facing the country were not resolved.
They claimed their investigations had revealed that a certain ethnic group was out to dominate the country, a situation they said was unacceptable to them.
The coalition condemned the killing of people in the South by Fulani herdsmen.
